Optimizing Wordpress On Page SEO For Search Engine Marketing

If you use wordpress you need to know how to properly set up your on page SEO for search engine marketing. Wordpress is pretty search engine friendly right out of the box but there are a few changes you will want to make to get it indexed faster and more often. One of the changes, if not done, could keep your site from getting indexed all together. Here are a few things you can do:

Once you have wordpress installed and set up, the first change you will want to make is to your permalinks. Go to the settings menu and click on permalinks. Use a custom permalink structure with only the post name. This will give you a link structure for your posts and pages that is just your domain with the post or page name after it. No dates or post numbers, the post or page name should contain the main keywords you are trying to get that page to rank for so this is all you want in the URL.

The next change you will need to make is to install the All In One SEO Plugin. This free wordpress plugin will make sure the search engines pick up exactly what you want on every page. You simply fill in the boxes on your editor when you are creating a new post or page and the plugin will override the default wordpress setup with the custom info you entered, ensuring you are always showing the search engines exactly what you want to show them.

Then, you will want to install recent posts and recent comments plugins. This will put your most recent posts and your most recent visitors comments in your sidebar. This is good for on page SEO because it increases the amount of dynamic content you have on your home page giving search engines more stuff to snack on, but it also improves your linking structure because your home page is now linking to more pages within your site and other relevant sites.

Here’s the big one, miss this and you may never get your blog indexed in the search engines! In settings/privacy in your admin panel make sure the option to make your blog visible to everyone is checked. Without this checked, the search engines cannot index your site. Wordpress started making the “block search engines” box checked by default in later versions so you need to make sure that this setting is correct.

There are many more ways you can optimize Wordpress on page SEO for search engine marketing but these few steps are a great start to getting your blog indexed high in the search engines.

Don’t Forget The Most Important Aspect Of Keyword Research

When most people do keyword research they consider such things as the number of monthly searches for a key phrase and the number of websites listed for that key phrase. They do some calculations and come up with a good idea of what keywords would be easy to rank for, but most people forget a very important aspect of keyword research - How much real competition you actually have for that keyword or phrase.

If you don’t look at the real competition for your keywords you will most certainly be choosing the wrong ones to try to rank for! Most keyword tools don’t give you this information. Real competition is the number of top ranking websites that are properly optimized for that keyword or phrase. Out of the top 20 sites if only a few are properly optimized you have a great chance of ranking well even if the competition stats from your keyword research says otherwise. If all of the top 20 sites are properly optimized you will have a harder time ranking even if your research says there is little competition.

So, if your keyword research is missing a major piece of the puzzle, how do you know what key phrases to try to rank for? Well, once you have selected some key phrases to optimize for, check to see how well optimized the top 20 ranking sites are in Google. Do a Google search for your keyword and look at the first 20 sites listed. Check them out one at a time and look for things such as: Is the keyword in their title tags? Is it in their URL? Do they have articles optimized for that keyword? Is their content fresh and do they have a lot of it? Do they have high quality content? Do they have a lot of high quality backlinks? Is it a blog or a static website?

All of these things can affect your ability to rank high for your terms in Google. Here is an example of this:

If you search for something like Redline Bicycles you will see that there are 21,900,000 sites ranked for that term, sounds like that may be hard to rank well for right? Well the truth is that in the top 20 results there are around 9 sites that aren’t properly optimized for that term! That means that you have a pretty good chance of getting into the top 20 if you properly optimize your site for that search term. Do you think you can make some money if you rank in the top 20 out of 21,900,000? You’re darn right you can!

Here’s another example on the other side of the coin. Say you are trying to rank for a search term like groomsman gifts. There are only 894,000 sites ranking for that keyword. Sounds like it may be easier to rank for that one right? Wrong! The top 20 sites, and many more I imagine, are optimized out the wazoo for that search term. That means you are gonna have a struggle to rank well for that term. It doesn’t mean it’s impossible but it does mean you will have to optimize your site better than the competition to rank in the top 20 for that keyword.

These are perfect examples of why doing normal keyword research without checking the real competition can lead you down a long and frustrating path. Most keyword tools are great for getting a general idea of keyword stats but they are not going to tell you how easy a key phrase is to rank for using all of the data needed to make an informed decision.

The only way you are going to get all of the info is to do the hard work yourself and check out every one of the top 20 ranking sites for each of your keyword terms, or use a keyword tool that actually gives you this information. There is only one keyword tool that I have found that gives you all of this information in an automated way. When you use this tool you can trust that the info you are given is looking at the entire picture including the actual real competition for your keywords. Go here to check it out..

Using Your Blog To Invade A Niche In One Sitting

Once you have decided what niche to go into and your niche blog is all set up, you need to decide how you are going to monetize your efforts. Will you put Adsense ads on your blog, or promote affiliate products, or both? A great way to monetize your blog, that is actually much easier to promote and more profitable than affiliate products, is creating your own niche products.

Most people struggle with creating their own products and some take months, or even years, to get something out there earning them money. People are attracted to affiliate programs because it is an easy system that is already in place that they just need to plug into. The problem, that they soon encounter, is that there are hundreds or even thousands of other affiliates promoting the same things in the same ways. If you are going to promote affiliate products you need to be different and make a better offer than the rest.

What if I could show you how to put a system in place right now, that you can plug into and create your own niche products in one sitting? How To Choose A Good Niche For Your Niche Blog

Entire courses have been written on the art of finding a profitable niche so it is not always cut and dry, everyone has their own system for determining what is a hot niche. There are some guidelines you can use to help you find niches that you have a good chance of being successful in and ways of invading niches quickly so the “not so hot” niches you try won’t take up too much of your time.

Start by brainstorming a list of possible niches, things that you may be interested in writing about. Come up with as many niches as you can think of in 5 minutes, then stop and look at your list. Pick out the few that you are most interested in out of those niches on your list. Then do a little research to see if those niches will most likely be profitable.

Pick your favorite potential niche, then start looking online to find the places where the people in that niche hang out. A good place to start is forums, you can often find out everything you need to know about a niche in the forums related to that niche. There are people asking questions and others answering them, that right there is a very powerful way to do niche research. When you see a common question or problem, one that is asked more than a couple times, you have an idea for a potential niche invasion tactic. If you can create a product to solve the problem these people are having, it becomes very easy to sell to them.

Look around the forum or related sites and see if there are people paying for advertising to advertise a solution to those people. If people are paying money to advertise to those people you can bet most of the time that people there are buying. Look to see if anyone is advertising that niche on Google Adwords. If you do a Google search for that niche and see that several people are paying for Adwords ads to advertise a solution to those people you can bet they are buying.

Do a search for affiliate products related to the niche. If there are several high converting competing products then you are in good shape. If nobody has created an affiliate product for that niche you have to wonder if it’s because that niche doesn’t buy. So look for niches with at least a few competing affiliate products, you can use them to monetize the back end of your niche invasion offer you enter the niche with.

If you are having trouble thinking of possible niches to investigate, have a look around popular social areas on the net. Look to see what people are talking about and what “buzzwords” are coming up over and over again. Ask your friends what new cool stuff they have been hearing about or participating in and find out what makes them want to look for something online.

There are many ways and methods for finding profitable niches online, these are just a few of the ones I use when I’m looking for a new niche to invade. When done properly this is a very easy way of making money online. We aren’t just looking for needs or wants to fill, we are looking for those desperate “hair on fire” wants that people will do anything to fill and we are creating an inexpensive product that fills exactly their immediate need. Selling online doesn’t get much easier than that.

If you would like to check out the full Niche Invasion System to get your first niche invaded and product created by the end of tomorrow, check it out while it is still only $7. This price will be going up soon because Lance and Jason are going to turn this system in to a high end product selling for much more.
