Why Should You Be Watching Infomercials?

I was up early this morning and turned on the “tube” and what did I see? Of
course, the same infomercials I have been seeing for years. You
know those sometimes annoying 30 minute commercials that tell you all
the great stuff about a product and then try to sell it to you?

I’ll admit it, I have been an infomercial junkie for many years. I
don’t normally buy the products they are selling but I always learn
something about marketing when I watch them. So, why should you be
watching infomercials?

You can learn a lot from infomercials. Those products weren’t placed
there by accident. The fact is that there is a starving crowd for
each of those products just waiting to whip out their credit cards
and buy. Whether it be a make money product, or something that
helps you do laundry faster, there are people that desperately want
what that product can do for them.

The next time you see an infomercial on, take a few minutes and
watch it. Think about the crowd they are marketing to, and the
motivations behind buying that product. Think about what would make
you want to rush to the phone and buy. Think about what makes these
people “tick”.

Listen carefully to what they are saying and how they are saying it.
See if you can pick up on some of the “buying triggers” they are
throwing at you. These kind of insights can be very valuable in your
marketing efforts. Those commercials typically use a very successful
formula for selling their products.

They offer an awesome product, at a low price, with
tons of built in value, such as bonus items, 2 for one deals, etc.
and an immediate no questions asked guarantee. They over deliver on
their offer so you will feel like an absolute idiot not to buy their
product, right? Then they go ahead and tell you all the different
ways their product will make your life better.

This is proven marketing and if you listen closely I’ll bet you can
pick something up that will help you in your business. If you only
get one thing that helps you make one sale, it was worth your 30
minutes, right?

A HUGE TIP. A lot of those products have affiliate programs that you
can join and make sales fast. Much of the initial marketing has been
done for you because a ton of people have seen those infomercials.
They are already pre-sold. All you have to do is put the offer in front
of as many eyeballs online as you can through blogs, article marketing,
Squidoo, etc.

A good friend of mine made his first few sales with the Video
Professor products. You know the “how to” computer cd’s that you
just pay shipping for?

Anyway just wanted to share with you a little “aha moment” I had
this morning. I hope it gave you a little inspiration, or at least
some amusement lol. Take care.

Have a productive day!
